3 Class Series

Begins March 20th

Sharpen your audition and performance skills by working directly with the people behind the table in this three-class series. Workshop your audition, the acting of the song, and gain insight on what they are looking for in each audition. 

Learn from some of the best casting directors from Broadway, Off Broadway, National Tours and Regional Theaters: 

Benton Whitley, Stewart/Whitley Casting (Hadestown, Chicago, 1776, How to Dance in Ohio, Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical, A Wonderful World, Invincible, Cowboy Bob)

Merri Sugarman, Tara Rubin Casting (Six, Ain’t Too Proud, The Wiz, Back To The Future, Here Lies Love, Company, Crazy For You, Dreamgirls)

Geoff Josselson (casting for Broadway, off-Broadway and major New York and Regional Theatre companies)

**Casting Directors Listed In Order of Appearance**

Class will meet each week for 3 hours, each with a different Casting Director. Each student will work one-on-one with the casting director on cuts of multiple songs in a classroom setting. Each class with also include a short Q&A, information on the intricacies of the casting process for that office and insight on what the auditionee can do to stand out.

All classes run 7pm-10pm at Open Jar Studios, 1601 Broadway, 11th Floor

Course cost: $375. Class participants strictly limited to 16 students

Note: Some 3 hour classes could possibly include 2 hours with the casting director and one hour with Jeff Whiting (CEO of Open Jar, Broadway Associate Director for Bullets Over Broadway, Young Frankenstein, Big Fish, The Scottsboro Boys) providing additional feedback on your pieces, audition hints, and information on what directors are really seeking in a first audition.

Under the direction of Artistic Director, Jeff Whiting, Open Jar’s Professional Class Series provides unique opportunities for performers to continue to hone their skills and work one-on-one with Broadway’s best stars, directors, composers,  agents, and casting directors.

ABSENCE POLICY: If you need to be absent for any reason, please contact masterclass@openjarinstitute.com and we will endeavor to find a replacement for you from the waiting list (if one has been started). If we are able to locate a replacement from the waiting list, the absent student will receive a 50% refund in credit towards future classes on their original payment (prorated if missing a portion of the class series).
